Kageyama x Reader: Little Patch of Heaven

Kageyama Tobio has always been either unlucky or so stressed beyond the point of no return. The only times he finds himself in tranquility is during volleyball practice. But even then sometimes, his unluckiness would creep in. Either scaring Hinata or having Tanaka creep on him, both for almost no reason.

One of his childhood friends [L. Name] [F. Name] had noticed this since the first day they met back in elementary school. [F. Name] attends Karasuno, but was placed in class 1-B and is in [Your Cool Club]. They never really realized how bad Tobio's luck really was until one day they decided to sit in on one of the team's practices.

Being a relatively social person, [F. Name] politely greeted Sawamura and coach Ukai before taking a seat on the bleachers that are set out on the side of the net. The ball went up in the air and the team went into ultra mode.

[F. Name] was a bit in shock how this band of complete goof balls were able to flip a switch and become completely focused on the game. Well, until Tobio went to send the ball to Shouyou and slipped in a small puddle of sweat and fell on his ass, the ball using the top of his head as a landing pad. The gym went silent, the only noise was the ball bouncing down and rolling away.

Then laughs came in.

and Asahi panicking afraid that it was his fault, even though he wasn't in on this set.

Kageyama became flustered all too quickly and scampered up. He ran for the door, tripping on his own two feet and crashed into the door. He fell flat on his face on the outside concrete as the door to the gym shut, quickly shutting out the mass hysteria coming from inside it.

[F. Name] sat there with a blank expression on their face, trying to process what had just happened. One minute they were all serious, and the next Tanaka is rolling on the floor laughing about some sort of 'killer head shot' and that sort of non-sense. Daichi sighed and barked at everyone to return to their positions. Soon turning around to [F. Name] to ask them something.

"[L. Name]-san, you're friends with Kageyama, right? Do you mind going to see if he's okay," Daichi said, "I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to see anyone else right now."

[F. Name] nodded their head and walked outside the gym. The hallway was empty, and if you looked both left and right, the angry bird was nowhere seen. [F. Name] stuck out their lower lip, 'hmm'-ing to themself. Scanning the area for Tobio. About 30 seconds of scanning before a quiet string of curses was heard outside the hallway. (a/n: you know that outdoor hallway that connects the school to the gym?? yah that hallway)

"Tobi-oh-oh-oh~" they sang, jumping over one of the railings and accidentally landed on their friend. "Oops, sorry. Didn't see ya there" they said sheepishly, scratching the back of their head in embarrassment.

Tobio held a mad face for a few seconds before he deflated, looking rather distressed.

"It's alright," he mumbled, "it's not the worse thing to happen to me..."

Giving him a pat on the back, [F. Name] sighed through their nose. "Now listen, nothing can be AS bad as what happened in there. It was just a flub-" they said, getting quickly cut off by their friend.

"Wrong. Last term, I was attacked by a swarm of dissection frogs that escaped from the Bio room"

"Okay that was a freak accide-"

"Middle school, locked in a bathroom for 4 hours."

"Now come o-"

"Last week, my jacket got caught on the train doors. Summer break on my way to California, I got a severe pat down from American customs because they thought my cell phone charm was drugs. Januray, I--"

"OKAY SHUT UP I GET IT" [F. Name] almost yelled, slapping their hands over Tobio's mouth. "You have horrible luck," [F. Name] said, removing their hand, Tobio seeming to deflate more, "but you can't get all Debbie-Downer."

Rolling his eyes, Tobio scoffed and asked "Now how am I supposed to do that?"

"Ya know, I'm visiting [any country west of Japan you like] and my parents asked if you wanted to tag along? My Grandmother is letting us use her old Cottage! It's such a beautiful place and it's far out west, you would almost be able to escape your bad luck?"

"And how do you know we won't crash into something because I'm on the plane?" He asked, pouting.

[F. Name] grinned, jumping up onto their feet and yanking Tobio up with them.

Slinging their hand over his shoulder, they sang out,

"There's some room in my nest, on that little patch of heaven out west~"
